For those of you who have never seen Clash of the Titans, the title to this post might not make sense. :) Today was crazy... to say the least. We started off Father's Day waking up at 8:10am when church starts at 9:00am (oops!). We hurried to get ready and, thankfully, made it to Church only a couple of minutes late! I'm convinced we had Divine help, because we usually struggle getting to church on time when we wake up at 7am! Jacob did fairly well getting ready for church. He threw his usual tantrum about getting his hair done. But by the time we walked out the door it was full of gel and looking decent. lol. He went off to nursery great, as usual. Relief Society and Sunday School were wonderful! I nursed Aaron before church, so I was actually able to sit through two consecutive meetings and enjoy them! That hasn't happened in a while! Another great surprise, Ben and I got to SIT by each other in Sunday School!!! Ben has been teaching the Gospel Doctrine class once or twice a month for his calling the last several months. So if I ever actually get to attend Sunday School, he's usually teaching. However, until last week I hadn't actually had the opportunity to sit through an entire lesson of his. Someone was always sick or hungry. But it finally happened! Just in time for him to get released next month when we move. haha!
Anyway! After a wonderful Sunday School lesson, I went to pick up Jacob from nursery. Ben took Aaron with him because he plays the organ in church twice a month and today was one of his days... so he had to hurry to go play prelude. Jacob was great when I picked him up. I felt so prepared today! I was going to sit by my friend Dora who also has two children so that Jacob would be distracted. I had brought toys and two different snacks. We were going to make it through sacrament meeting today! I just had to keep Jacob behaved until Ben was done playing the hymn for the sacrament. Then after sacrament I planned to go feed Aaron again. Well, my plan half way worked. I walked into the chapel and someone was already sitting by Dora. dang. I looked around and all the seats in the back were pretty much taken. So I moved to our usual location near the front. Jacob was SO hyper. About 5 minutes into the meeting he started fighting me. Snacks were already pulled out, toys were already thrown at Aaron. And Ben was sitting on the stand. Great. We made half way through the sacrament before I had to take our little Jacob-monster out. He was SCREAMING! So, with car seat in one hand, and screaming toddler in the other, we exited the chapel. The rest of church consisted of Ben and I trading off while Jacob screamed and threw tantrums. Needless to say, I got very little from sacrament meeting, and came home with very tense shoulders. lol.
After a lunch at home, Jacob went down for a nap. We then all took a much needed 2 1/2 hour nap... oops! It was nice though! After getting up, I had the thought of Clash of the Titans, when Zeus commands, "Release the Kraken!" For those who are unfamiliar with the Kraken, it is basically a very large, dangerous and destructive creature that has a really bad temper. I felt like Zeus when I opened the door to Jacob's room. I knew it had to be done, but I was afraid of the consequences... hehehe. And rightly so! He had a BAD temper until 6pm when Ben left for a stake Priesthood meeting. Then, I took the boys outside and Jacob played for a solid hour. I think that was all he needed??? He was an angel outside, and even when I was bringing him inside! He reminds Ben and I of our nephew, TJ, sometimes. Occasionally he will make the same facial expressions... and he is just SO energetic pretty much ALL the time! I think TJ still has more energy... but they're pretty close sometimes. lol.
The rest of the evening went great and we even had a nice experience with scripture study. Which I am SO grateful for!
Friday and Saturday were AMAZING days for us! After Ben got home from school on Friday we fed the ducks by our apartment, then went and had a picnic and played at the splash park. While we were there we saw some planes practicing for Saturday's airshow! So when we were done we drove over near the airport and watched them for a while. It was SO COOL!!! The planes would go straight up, stall out, and just tumble! Then, they'd turn the engine back on and everything would be fine. It was cool! Jacob loved it too! Come to find out, one of the planes crashed within minutes after we left! The pilot survived with just a sprained ankle and bruise. But the plane was is shreds. Miracle!
Saturday I had a Relief Society activity in the morning. We talked about eating healthy and then played water balloon volleyball. It was fun. After that I went to meet Ben and the boys at the air show. We stayed for about an hour more, then came home and ate lunch. After Jacob went down for a nap Ben and I watched the new Sherlock Holmes movie. We loved it! Then that night I worked on my amazing Photoshop class that I'm taking online. I learned a lot! I am enjoying that class SO much! That night we just all spent time together at home. It was such a good weekend... and so relaxing. We loved it.
I'll post some pictures from the air show tomorrow. But for now I better head off to bed! Good night!
