Here are some highlights from the last week or so:
Ben found airplane buddy: Jacob. Ben has been into airplanes ever since he was a little boy. I think airplanes are amazing too, but not quite as cool as Ben thinks. :) Fortunately, our almost-2-year-old son has recently developed an interest in airplanes... all on his own! Ben didn't even have to brain wash him! ;) Anytime Jacob hears a plane passing by (we live pretty close to our local airport), he gasps with excitement, drops whatever he's doing, and runs to the window to try to see the plane. He has recently started trying to say the word "plane" too. Once again, we didn't have to do much coaxing! lol. So, when Ben plays his flight sim or watches videos on youtube of airplanes, Jacob excitedly runs to him, giggling with joy, and asks to be on Ben's lap. Ben has even let Jacob "fly" on the computer... which he loved. I'm grateful. Because as much as I want to encourage my sweet husband in doing something he enjoys, I don't quite share the enthusiasm he is looking for. :)
AND Ben got a high score on a really hard test! Woohoo! He got to write an entire paper front and back of notes to take into the test. That was a feat in itself. But, he did it! And it payed off! Good job, honey!
This week I started my online Photoshop class through Nicole's Classes. Now THAT'S exciting!! hehehe. It's four wonderful weeks long. I have learned SO much this week! And I'm not even done with all of the lesson and homework yet. I'm thrilled. I tried taking this class while I was very pregnant with Aaron and it didn't quite work out. I was completely unfamiliar with Photoshop and my scattered, pregnant brain was having a hard time wrapping itself around all the terms and possibilities. Now I have played around with it some and I'm not pregnant anymore, so I decided to give it another whirl... I'm loving it! And something else really cool, I got it for a SWEET deal. Yep! If you sign up for the emails on the website they'll send you emails when they're having sales. It's amazing! Something else cool: when you take a class through them you get a little discount code that you can use forever. :)
Jacob gave us a wonderful gift this week: a parenting memory. Yep, he did something he wasn't supposed to. You know, back when Ben and I were little (which really wasn't that long ago), there were tape players and VCRs that you could stick cool things in... like peppermints, coins, etc. Well, nowadays those things are kinda hard to come by, so a kid's gotta improvise! What did he do? You know that little slit that most dishwashers have where the lock can slide to lock and unlock? He stuck a battery in there. Yes, a battery. So, Ben had to take the dishwasher apart, screws and all, to get the darn thing out. Jacob thought it was absolutely amazing! He was giggling with delight. He LOVES seeing how things can come apart.
Just like a few weeks ago when I heard him playing before bed (a normal occurance). He sometimes will slide toy cars or books under the door. He thinks it's amazing to see "what fits where." Well a few weeks ago I looked to see what he slid under his door that night. It was pieces of electronics from the CD player we thought we had "hidden" in his closet... I guess he found it and wanted to see how it came apart. He broke it. lol.
Aaron slept through the night 3 nights in a row! It was wonderful! I think he slept from 10 or 11pm-6 or 7am. The only problem: Ben and I weren't really getting to bed until oh about 1am. Kinda defeats the purpose of getting the kids to sleep through the night. lol. He's done it a couple times since and Ben and I are really working on getting back into a good bedtime routine for ourselves so we can partake of the goodness. :)
Other than that, Aaron is the sweetest and happiest baby! He's been as cheerful as ever. Full of big smiles and little laughs. He and Jacob light up our lives!
Anyway, we're doing great. We love life. And we love each other. And we love you! :)
Laura
