So for a little update on our family: Jacob will be turning TEN MONTHS OLD tomorrow! We are so excited! He gets to be more and more fun each day! In the last few weeks he has learned to wave "bye-bye" (and "hi"), clap, and give a high-5... mostly thanks to my brothers and little sister, Emma! It is SO much fun to see him learning to communicate. I'm starting to show him some little sign language things like "all done" and "please" (gotta start out with the basics!). It's really fun watching his face as I show him the sign, then help him to do it. You can tell he's really thinking about it. His little brain is just learning so much. We LOVE being parents!
Jacob is also into EVERYTHING now. He is quite curious! He can pull himself up to standing on just about everything, but he hasn't tried a lot of walking around the objects... he's far to comfortable with being able to just get down and crawl to his desired location. haha.
He can also say "mama", "dada", and "baba" (all the essentials!). Although, he doesn't actually know what "baba" means since we never give him a bottle. So I don't know if that one counts. hehe.
Jacob has the cutest 4 teeth right now, and cutting 4 more. This tooth cutting business is NO fun at all... for anyone! By the time his grandma's and grandpa's see him again he'll have a whole mouth full of teeth!
As for Ben and I, we are both in school this semester. Ben is taking 16 credits in school right now and doing GREAT! I am so proud of him! He is absolutely loving his psychology classes, and the other classes he's taking. After this semester, we only have TWO semesters left before he graduates! Then, hopefully, off to grad school! Needless to say, we're trying to scramble and get things ready for that. He still needs to take the GRE, but with the timing of the deadlines for the Masters program he wants to get into, he still has a few months left that he can prepare.
This semester I am having a lot fun. I am taking two swim classes: Water Aerobics and Intermediate Swim. Water Aerobics is just a ton of fun. It's a good work out, and I have some great girls I get to visit with, too! =) Intermediate swim is fun, too... but it kicks my tail!! Every few weeks we have a 12 minute swim where we see how many laps we can swim in 12 minutes. The two 12 minute swims I've done so far have just about killed me... my endurance is building though! Just in a few classes I had a 75 yard improvement. Woohoo! It's GREAT to work out again and challenge my body in ways other than growing a baby. haha.
I'm also starting a fun little photography business... if you want to check it out it's lauraholland.blogspot.com . Ben and I are having a lot fun with it. He's getting quite the eye for photography! It's fun to be able to enjoy something like that together. :)
We are learning so much and truly enjoying life. I'm hoping to be better about updating this thing... but no promises. lol. We'd love to hear from ya!
