Out With a Bang!

This is a little late... but, good news! The 2nd trimester has come along, and I am feeling MUCH better! I'm still battling nausea everyday, but I'll take that over throwing up constantly.

This is how the first trimester went for me: If I felt good enough to get out of bed, the throw-up bowl came with me... gross, I know. The doctors and nurses kept telling me, "oh, you should start feeling better soon." Despite their optimism, I was feeling less than hopeful.
Finally, two weeks into the 2nd trimester, my body couldn't take it anymore. I probably threw up 20 times that day. I was so dehydrated! The doctors had me come in and they stuck an IV in me for an hour. That was not the most pleasant experience. But, it was a lot better than spending another night on the cold bathroom floor. lol. We got home that afternoon and I was FINALLY able to eat and really sleep for the first time in 24 hours! Since then, I've been doing so much better. I haven't been nearly as sick as I was. And I'm actually eating normal food! It's so much better than living off of apple sauce, toast, and chicken noodle soup! lol. My sister in law said that the sixteenth week is about the time her morning sickness has lifted in her past pregnancies. Ben and I decided the first trimester just had to go out with a bang!

All of the nasty detail aside, life has been great! The last dr appointment confirmed that our baby is wonderful and growing just as he or she should be! We get to find out in just FOUR DAYS if it's a boy or a girl! Woohoo! We are SO excited! Everything has become so much more real to us (especially me, I think) the last few days. Ben's sister, Bonnie, is letting us borrow a crib and gave us a stroller. It's so crazy seeing the baby things... this is actually happening! We're really going to be parents!!!!!!!

Since I've had more energy (and less puking), I've been trying to take a 2nd block class at school. It's so nice to have something to go to, some reason to get out of our little apartment! lol. Ben is still working hard as ever in school. I'm so proud of him! He is such a man. :) Only three more weeks until school is out! WOOOHOOO!

P.S. The picture is when I was at 17 weeks! :)

  1. (This is actually Olivia lol) Yay I'll be your first comment on this blog! My mom said I need to start blogging now haha But that's great that you can take a class... I bet it does feel nice to be able to get out of the house for a little while. And I'm really glad to hear that your morning sickness has gotten a lot better. It's funny how you say it's all starting to hit you now because I was just talking to my mom and saying how it was so weird that yall are actually about to have a baby! But I know both of yall will be great parents!! :) Love you!!
